Boy Meets Girl

I just watched this movie on NetFlix called "Boy meets Girl" and was very impressed. It is a film with a transgendered main character that is eye opening as well as beautiful.

A synopsis follows:
  • Funny and provocative, Boy Meets Girl vividly captures the giddy excitement, sexual heat, and inherent heartache of "non-traditional" love in a small town. Ricky (Michelle Hendley) is a 21-year-old trans girl living in Kentucky. Her only real friend, straight-laced Robby, has been her trusty, totally platonic, confidant for over 15 years. Her day job slinging lattes is merely a stepping-stone toward her goal of being a famous New York designer. She's confident, cool, and completely ready for something new-and then her world is transformed when an enchanting debutante saunters into her life. Triggering fresh feelings and experiences, this unlikely connection conjures up intense questions about identity while uncovering ghosts from Ricky's past. Indie-film veteran Eric Schaeffer (My Life's in Turnaround, If Lucy Fell) builds a compelling, compassionate world that focuses on the emotions and messy challenges of complex people navigating complicated relationships. Schaeffer creates a thoroughly authentic small-town atmosphere, capturing the cozy and claustrophobic ambiance of a place where everyone knows your name-and your sexual partners.
  • Boy Meets Girl is a funny, tender, sex positive romantic comedy that explores what it means to be a real man or woman, and how important it is to live a courageous life not letting fear stand in the way of going after your dreams.

What I loved about the movie was witty dialogue of main character Ricky. When in a debate about labels, she and Robbie go back and forth, "If I have sex with a genetic female is that straight sex?" "It's gay if two people with the same anatomy have sex" "What does it mean if I...etc." Finally she says, "It just means you're human."

This is probably the best adolescent trans theme movie I have seen and one of the most enjoyable, along with "Zerophelia"

If you get a chance, check it out. It is a positive, uplifting, fun and sexy film.

Comic Con 2015

Niagara Falls Comic Con has once again come and gone. Although I was unhappy about Yvonne Craig cancelling, I still enjoyed the weekend. I was very pleased to meet Patricia Quinn, famous of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in the role of Magenta. I also had a chance to meet the one and only Elvira, aka Cassandra Peterson.

Another highlight was meeting Director April Mullens (for the second time) who autographed a copy of her new movie "88" for me. 88 stars Katherine Isabella in the lead role along with Christopher Lloyd and Micheal Ironsides and was filmed entirely in Niagara Falls Canada, my home.
