Superheroines
It is no secret that I am a comic book/ superhero fan. I always have been. In particular, I have always loved the ladies in costumes. My affinity toward Batgirl and Catwoman goes back to my youth watching the 60's Batman series. I think that a strong, smart woman, full of confidence, proud and daring is the sexiest thing in the world.
I recently read a history of Super heroines which talked about the changing roles and origins of the femme fetales over the decades. Most modern characters are strong, independent, feminist heroes who happen to have the looks of super models. The role has changed greatly from the 1930's characters who were mostly bored debutantes.
That all said, I have been using IMVU a lot lately to create and modify super heroines of my own. I put my own twist on existing characters.
Batgirl: Her suit is neoprene with a Kevlar corset. I like the "bat signal" symbol on her front and cape. I started with fighting gloves but switched to the traditional yellow gauntlets and gloves in the end. I ditched her yellow go-go boots for slightly more practical wood heel boots, appropriate for riding and kicking in a face. She has a variety of weapons. I have her mask on the front only to allow her red hair to flow.
Huntress: Another bird of prey, Helena Kyle is a sexy character and I chose the skimpier outfit for her. The rest is traditional huntress including her crossbow.
Black Canary: I like the old school BC best. I could see Rachel Skarsden rocking this look today.
Catwoman: There are lots of good looks for her but you can't miss with the skin tight suit and a whip.
Harley Quinn: Easy to play with her look too. I opted for a sexy brief and top set, hair in pigtails look with an RPG as a standard weapon
Mary Marvel: Another ancient favorite of mine mainly because she was the female equivalent to a Shazam and she was sweet and cute. I have a costume of my own that I like to wear of Mary Marvel although I am hardly as sweet or innocent as the character is supposed to be.
New characters:
Jeopardy: I have always been envisioning new characters. I wanted another villain along the lines of the Riddler. I came up with "Jeopardy". She is a villain who uses her superior intellect to fool her foes and passes out consequences for failing to solve her puzzles. Her costume is a sexy, punk version of the Riddler costume.
True North: I wanted to do a pure Canadian super heroine. I am still at a loss for good name. Marvel comics had a Canadian hero named Vindicator who was male for the Alpha Team comics. They later changed the character to be female. I hated the name and thought of a better costume based on a type of speed skating uniform with a sexy twist. I still haven't thought of her super powers/ skills yet, just the look.
Mighty Isis: There was a Saturday morning show when I was young, right after "Shazam!" about a Egyptologist who transformed into the Egyptian goddess Isis with all her goddess power. I recreated this character and tried to make her look even more Egyptian. She could be a hero or a nemesis for Mary Marvel. There is room for a grey area there. She will have the knowledge of the ancient world and the can perform magic.
Fabu-Lass: My transgender super heroine. Cyber Six was the only trans super that I know of until SheZa came along last year. I wanted to make my own. Mild mannered dude by day, sexy, scantily clad hottie after hours. Fabu-Lass is stylish in high boots, rose pattern skin suit, belt and cape with "TG" emblazoned on them. Her only power besides her disguise is flight and carries a sword for the dirty work. She is sworn to protect the LGBT community from its oppressors.
Ice Queen: I always liked Storm from the X-men but also thought her to be too powerful. I never liked Superman for the same reasons. Heroes have to be equally vulnerable. I thought Mr. Freeze or Captain Cold were decent villains, using ice and cold as a weapon. So I made Ice Queen, who has the power to deep chill and create snow and ice from thin air. She would be a good nemesis for True North.
Dumb Bunny: Most recently, I redid another old character from the early seventies. Dumb Bunny was part of a satirical super hero team called the Inferior Five about five costumed heroes who were utterly useless. Dumb Bunny was the lone female member and wore a bunny outfit that was as sexy as the comic book code allowed back then. She was a blonde stereotype bimbo. I would never think of making the same character over again. That would be beyond offensive.
Instead, I had an epiphany. Super heroes and their alter egos are supposed to be in stark contrast with each other in order to keep their identity secret. After all, who would think that mousy, introverted Barbara Gordon was the dynamic dare doll, Batgirl. This is what I had in mind for Dumb Bunny:
For her origin story, Debra Barton is a feminist, former Marine and a brilliant engineer. She exceeds in a male dominated field and keeps herself conservative and professional. She invents a special concealed weapon that women could use for personal protection. Her idea is canned by her employer but she keeps the prototype. Although attractive, fit and built, she doesn't show it off. She also generally dislikes men and has a girlfriend. Her girlfriend is a stripper named Molly who is also both intelligent and attractive.
When a fellow stripper is raped on the way home from work and the police don't lay charges because she was dressed "slutty", Molly organizes a local "Slut March" to protest. She convinces her girlfriend Debra to join but Debra feels too uncomfortable in the revealing Bunny costume that her girlfriend picked out. Debra ends up bailing and going home. Molly is upset and considers dumping Debra but on the way home is attacked and raped herself. Debra is bound on revenge and hits the streets with her secret weapon to try to find Molly's attackers or any other misogynists that cross her path. Without any luck, Debra asks Molly for advice. Molly tells her that in order to catch the mouse, you need the right bait.
Debra goes all out with the Bunny outfit and adds some touches. Her pink utility belt has handcuffs with pink fluff on them, pepper spray, ammo, and night stick painted pink with stickers to appear innocent. She declines the high heels as they are too difficult to patrol in and wears her bunny slippers instead but arms them with Tasers in the ears. Her secret wristband gun equalizes any street threat. She also carries a carrot which is made from a butt plug and is mainly for distraction but can be used on her enemies with its intended purpose. She exchanges her glasses for blue contact lenses and wears a ridiculous pink bimbo wig. The bunny ears contain a two way communicator that keeps her in contact with her girlfriend Molly who monitors the police bands and web, much like Oracle. Dumb Bunny's image is meant to draw out her enemies and lower their guard so that she can exact justice. A true feminist superhero is born.
Not half bad, might need to copyrite this.
